Day 01 :
Arrival and transfer to hotel |
Day 02 : City
tour in Kathmandu valley. |
Day 03 :
Arrive Paro International Airport During the
journey to Paro, one will experience breath
taking view of Mount Everest, Kanchenjungaand
other famous Himalayan peaks, including the
sacred Mount Chomolhari and Jichu Drake in
Bhutan. On arrival at Paro International
Airport, you will be received by your tour guide
will escort you to the Hotel. Hotel Gangtey
Palace. After some refreshment and rest at the
hotel, you can visit the National Museum (Ta-Dzong).
Once the Watch Tower for the Rinpung Dzong (Dzong
means Fortress), it was converted into
theNational Museum in 1968. The museum stands on
a promontory overlooking the Paro valley in all
its glory. Also visit the Paro Rinpung Dzong. A
flagstone path rises gradually from the
beautiful wooden bridge with shingle roofing
abutted by two guard houses, to the Dzong.
Today, this massive fortress is the seat of the
district administration as well as the home for
the monastic school. The central Tower ( Utse)
of the dzong, with its superb woodwork, is one
of the most beautiful in the nation. The Dzong
was built in 1645 AD. If time permits also drive
to Drugyal Dzong ( a ruined fortress - 16 kms.
away from Paro town ). Although in ruins, this
Dzong is of great historical importance. It was
here that the Bhutanese finally defeated the
invading Tibetans and drove them back. From
here, the peak of Mount Chomolhari " Mountain of
Goddess " can be seen on a clear day ( Alt.
7329m ). On the way back, you can visit a
typical Bhutanese farm house. O/n Hotel Gangtey
Palace. |
Day 04 :
Paro to Thimphu and Thimphu sightseeing.Drive to
Thimphu ( Capital ). The drive to Thimphu
through winding road along the Paro and Thimphu
river takes about 2 hrs. and the distance is 65
kms. On recahing Thimphu, checkin at Hotel
Yeedzing.Visit the Memorial Chorten (a huge
stupa) built in memory of the third King of
Bhutan who reigned the Kingdom from 1952-1972.
Visit the National Library where ancient
manuscripts are preserved.Visit the Painting
School where traditional art is still kept alive
through instructions in the art of painting
Thankas (sacred Buddhist scroll).Visit the
National Textile Museum and the Folk heritage
Museum Visit the Handicrafts Emporium where
various Bhutanese arts and crafts are displayed
and can be purchased.Lunch at the Hotel
Afternoon: Visit Tashichho Dzong - the main
Secretariat Building. This massive structure
houses part of the Ministries, the office of the
King and the Throne Room. It also houses the
State Monastic Body and the living quarters of
the Chief Abbot. Visit Pangri Zampa Monastery
which is situated just beyond Dechencholing ( 5
kms. from Thimphu ). This Lhakhang was the
residence of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel when he
arrived in Bhuatn in 1616 A.D. The Monastery was
built during the first quarter of the 16th
century by Ngawang Chogyel, the
great-great-grandfather of the Shabdrung and the
14th heirarch of the Drukpas. |
Day 05 : Excursion
to Dochula pass and drive to Paro.Early morning
drive to Dochula pass which is about 26 kms
drive towards east from Thimphu ( Alt. of the
pass is 3100m). From this pass, you can view one
of the most beautiful view of the entire Eastern
Himalayan Mountain ranges. Breakfast at the
Dochula Cafeteria and drive back to Thimphu.
Visit the Changangkha Monastery, the oldest
monastery in Thimphu and also the Zilukha
Nunnery monastery. Lunch at an exclusive local
restaurant. Afternoon, drive back to Paro. On
the way, Visit Simtokha Dzong which is located
about 5 kms from Thimphu. This is one of the
oldest fortresses in Bhutan. it also houses the
largest monastic schools in the country. It was
built in 1629 Ad.Evening, take a leisurely
stroll in the Paro Town and also visit the
ancient monastery located in the centre of the
town. |
Day 06 :
Departure to Kathmandu, Arrival and transfer to
hotel. |
Day 07 :
City tour in Kathmandu valley,( option Rock
climbing ) |
Day 08 :
trip concludes in Kathmandu.( Transfer to
airport for the next destination) |
